13iOS 11 Mail.app problem

In the native Mail app (Mail.app) on your iPhone or iPad, you can't send or reply from your Outlook.com, Office 365, or Exchange Server 2016 email account after you upgrade to iOS 11

This effects both college staff and student email accounts

To work around this issue, download the free Outlook for iOS client from the App Store. The Outlook for iOS client fully supports various email services, including Outlook.com, Office 365, and Exchange Server 2016.

12 Wireless login problem to RBC-INTERNET

User are experiencing problems trying to login via the captive portal on RBC-INTERNET, this can be confirmed by seeing the following entry in logs - 'Unable to read [https://192.168.69.251:443/vpn/externalauth] [10.001s]: Operation timed out after 10000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received; URL: https://192.168.69.251:443/vpn/externalauth'

This may be caused by AV/Firewall software on users computer blocking the secure captive portal pages from loading properly

Work around : disable AV filtering on web requests when using college wireless or add an exception rule for the domain wlan.bruford.ac.uk to the AV software

11Copier card readers

We are aware of an issue with the swipe card readers on all college copier/printers, that can mean that they do not recognise that a card has been swiped

Whilst this issue appears to be random and only happens occasionally it does effect all copier/printers, and whilst this is being investigated by our supplier a work around is to switch off and back on again the copier/printer

9OWA app on Android platform devices

We have been advised that the current OWA app (pre release version 15.00.1054.029 ) that is available within the various Android app stores does not work with students college email

This is due to our current authentication process (known as ADFS) not being supported yet by this app

Updated : 23 Jan 2015

The current release version 15.00.1054.031 has not been tested

Unable to save to secure shared areas from within any Adobe products

This is a know limitation of the current Adobe product range as they do not understand web addresses (https://) as a destination for saving

Currently the only work around is to save to your desktop and then upload the file to the secure shared area folder you want the file to be

(NB: This does not effect opening of files)

8Problems access college secure websites when using Firefox off campus

When trying to access a college website that is secured via an EV SSL certificate and using the latest version of Firefox web browser, the following message may be displayed:

"Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to xxxxx.bruford.ac.uk. Invalid OCSP signing certificate in OCSP response. (Error code: sec_error_ocsp_invalid_signing_cert)

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.     Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem."

This is a known bug/issue within Mozilla Firefox and can be resolved by either using a different web browser or by altering the settings within your Firefox web browser as follows:

"you can temporarily work around the issue and turn off ocsp stapling: enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named security.ssl.enable_ocsp_stapling. double-click it and change its value to false. "

5Intermittent problems when logging in O365 OWA account using a web browser

When logging into an O365 OWA email account using any web browser, a message is displayed which included 'Something went wrong...'

If this happens use the following login link (not the one on the portal page) as a temporary solution and contact the helpdesk for further advice :

This forces the older light version of the interface which has very limited functionality

1When logged into your Office 365 OWA off-campus the log out functionality does not work as expected - you just get logged back in againThis is due to a cookie timeout issue between Microsoft O365, our firewalls and our ADFS authentication servers  Students are advised to just close the web browser when they are finished, which will log you out of your emailO365 OWA Email

3Spell checking functionality is not available when accessing your student email using IE on a college computerThis is because we only currently support IE9 on college computers, which does not have a built-in spell checker.  We are currently awaiting compliance testing with all applications that run on college computers to support IE10 or IE11 to complete, which should be Jan 2014O365 OWA EmailResolved 15/1/2014
4Problems logging in to RBC-INTERNET if your password contains a currency symbol - $ or £This is because of an issue with our wireless controllers using the wrong local - US instead of UK, so when you type £ in a password it actually sends $ to our authentication servers. We recommended that users do not the currency symbol in their passwordWi-Fi, passwordsResolved
